Advanced Photonics Research Institute hosts "Science world with Cheomdan elementary school students"

□ The Advanced Photonics Research Institute (APRI, Director Byeong Ha Lee) at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President Seung Hyeon Moon) hosted "Science world with Cheomdan elementary school students" on April 17, 2018.

□ Since April 2007, this event has been held every year in April. This event provides elementary students with an opportunity to easily understand and experience the science of lights and lasers. A total of 50 students participated in the event, including three elementary school science teachers, from the Cheomdan area, such as Bia Elementary School.

∘ The APRI researchers organized six projects, including holography, laser painting, popping balloons, laser tree, laser alarm, and mounting and assembling large-diameter optical systems.

□ Director Byeong Ha Lee said, "I hope that elementary school students who will lead the future of Korean science will have a meaningful time to experience interesting science phenomenon firsthand. Next year, we will expand our program to benefit more students."
