□ A global science festival "2018 Brain Awareness Week * - Gwangju" will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, 17th, at the National Gwangju Science Museum. Four lectures will be held under the theme of "Communicating with and Controlling the Brain," which was organize by the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President Seung Hyeon Moon), the National Gwangju Science Museum (Director Sun-ah Kim), and the Chosun National University Dementia Research Foundation (Research Director Gun-ho Lee).

* "Brain Awareness Week" was first held in 1992 by the DANA Foundation to raise public awareness about the importance of brain science research, and it is now held every year during the third week of March in over 60 countries.

□ Since 2002, Korea has participated in "Brain Awareness Week" and  will host a variety of public lectures around the country under the theme of brain exploration this year.

∘ The event that to be held in Gwangju will include a welcome speech from the National Gwangju Science Museum Director Kim Sun-ah and an introduction by GIST Professor Jong-In Song of the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Other lectures will include: ▲ "Controlling the brain with light" by GIST Professor Tae Kim of the Department of Biomedical Science and Engineering, under the theme of "Communication and regulation with the brain" ▲ "Controlling the brain with ultrasound" by GIST Professor Jae Gwan Kim of the Department of Biomedical Science and Engineering ▲ "Using EEG to communicate with the brain" by Chonnam National University Do-Won Kim.

□ Brain research is the core technology of the 4th Industrial Revolution * and intelligent information technology, and advanced societies, such as USA, Europe and Japan, are investing heavily to gain technological competitiveness.
