□ The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President Seung Hyeon Moon) hosted the GIST Alumni Conference on the night of November 3, 2017.
□ The GIST Alumni Conference was sponsored by five departments and the GTMBA (Technology Management Academy), including the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, School of Earth Sciences and Environmental Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Life Sciences, and the Department of Biomedical Science and Engineering.
∘ Most of the selected conference speakers are alumni of GIST, but students and faculty members also gave presentations, which consisted of academic lectures, career paths and life stories of the alumni, as well as graduation stories.
□ Over 120 people including GIST administrators, professors, alumni, family members, and students attended the conference and alumni awards ceremony, including President Seung Hyeon Moon, Vice President Hor-Gil Hur, and the Dean of International and Public Affairs Yong Chul Kim. The attendees enjoyed dinner and musical performances.
□ This year the 'Proud Alumni Prize' was awarded to Dong-Wook Ahn of the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Bum-Chan Lee of the School of Mechanical Engineering, Ji-hoon Lee of the School of Earth Sciences and Environmental Engineering, and GTMBA alumni Seong-Bong Kim received this year's award.
□ President Seung Hyeon Moon said, "This was a very meaningful time to hold the alumni conference, especially in light of GIST's 25th anniversary next year. I look forward to more progress in the future based on mutual cooperation and solid relationships among our alumni."
