Professor Min-Gon Kim selected as '100 Best Technologies and Leaders' by Korea Engineering Academy

□ Professor Min-Gon Kim of the Department of Chemistry at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President Seung Hyeon Moon) was selected for "The 100 leading technologies and leading-edge exploration projects that will lead the Republic of Korea in 2025," which was sponsored by the Korea Engineering Academy and by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy.

∘ The Korea Engineering Academy selects and announces promising technologies and next-generation engineers to continue the development of the Republic of Korea through '100 technologies and leading exploration projects that will lead Korea' every five years.

∘ This year, they announced the technology of 100 technologies and 238 next generation prototypes that will contribute to Korea's industrial technology. Professor Min-Gon Kim's "Super Sensitive Blood Biosensor Technology" was selected.

□ Professor Min-Gon Kim suggests that ultra-high sensitivity of various bio-markers can be measured with a very small amount of blood, and it is possible to quickly and easily diagnose cancer, chronic diseases, infectious diseases and the like. This dramatically improves performance while taking advantage of the lateral flow sensor, a traditional immune sensor.

∘ If the technology is developed in the future, it is expected to contribute to the development of the next-generation medical system that focuses on early diagnosis and prevention of diseases, and it will become the main core technology of the fourth industrial revolution. In addition, it is expected that simple and healthy monitoring will be possible for everyday life, and it will contribute greatly to pioneering new healthcare market while improving public health.

□ Professor Min-Gon Kim has been conducting research for developing biosensor technology for more than 10 years and is leading the growth of the bioiindustry through commercialization along with development of technologies such as high sensitivity, multi-biosensor sensor, multiple immunosensors, and cardiovascular diagnosis sensor.
