Professor Heechul Choi of the School of Earth Sciences and Environmental elected as the 21st President of the Korean Society of Environmental Engineering
□Professor Heechul Choi of the School of Earth Sciences and Environmental Engineering at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President Seung Hyeon Moon) was elected as the 21st president of the Korean Society of Environmental Engineering.
□ Established in 1978, the Korean Society of Environmental Engineering is the largest academic organization in the field of environmental engineering in Korea and currently has 8,300 active individual and corporate members.
∘ Environmental Engineering Research, which is published by the Korean Society of Environmental Engineering, has recently been selected by Claribrate Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters) as an internationally recognized SCIE journal.
□ Professor Heechul Choi has been a member of the IWA and a member of the Royal Society of British Chemistry as well as an editor for RSC Advances. Currently, he is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and he is actively working as an editor of Environmental Engineering Research.
∘ In addition, Professor Choi has been a regular member of Korea Academy of Science and Technology (KAST) since 2014 and was selected as a general member of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea (NAEK) in 2017.
□ Professor Choi, who was elected as the 21st president of the Korean Society of Environmental Engineering, is expected to serve a term of two years from January 2018 to December 2019.
