The 6th GIST-European Universities Workshop
Held from November 18 to 19, 2015
The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) hosted the 6th GIST-European Universities Workshop, which was held from November 18 to 19, 2015, in the International Cooperation Building.
The GIST-European Workshops have been held since 2010, and this year"s workshop was attended by the following universities from Europe: the Czech Technical University in Prague, the Warsaw University of Technology in Poland, the Universitatea Babeş-Bolyai in Romania, and the University of Sofia St. Kl.Ohridski in Bulgaria. Also participating for the very first time was the Free International University of Moldova.
Plenary sessions included: Physics & Optics, Mechatronics & Computer Science, and Materials Science, and 11 professors from GIST along with 8 professors from Europe shared their expertise as well as their current research results and discussed the possibilities of future collaboration. Next year"s joint workshop will be held in Poland.
GIST President Seung Hyeon Moon states: "Many of the great advances in science and technology have historically occurred whenever there has been exchanges between different cultures. This workshop has extended beyond the boundaries of continents, and I hope--and expect--that it will inspire new research questions and opportunities."
