GIST presents scholarships to students of
Jeollanam-do"s Guhjeom High School System

□ As part of GIST"s human resource development program and initiative to create a culture scientific aspiration among student in the local community, GIST presented scholarships to eight students from seven Guhjeom High Schools on September 22, 2015.
□ Eight students were recommended from seven high schools in Guhjeom that are located in different parts of Jeollanam-do: Naju High School, Goheung High School, Boseong High School, Haenam High School, Muan High School, Wando High School, and Docho High School. Each of the selected eight students were presented with a 300,000 won scholarship.
* Guhjeom High School System were created by combining several schools into one system. Schools in rural areas often lack teachers and a sufficient number of students to justify the continued operation of school facilities. Therefore, to keep children in rural areas from leaving the community and to provide them with a quality education, the, Jeollanam-do Office of Education created the Guhjeon High School system in 2011.
□ Last July, GIST signed a memorandum of understanding with the Jeollanam-do Office of Education to assist with “Guhjeom High School human resource development,” and GIST donated science books worth five million wons to ten high schools in Jeollanam-do, including Naju High School.
□ GIST President Seung Hyeon Moon said, “As we are a school that represents and cares deeply about the community, we want to support our future leaders to become passionate scholars whose dreams and hopes have no limits or boundaries. Therefore, we will continue to expand our scholarship awards program, and we will work closely with Jeollanam-do to help the Guhjeom High School System provide an exceptional level of quality education that will be respected--and valued--by all of the students, parents, and the community."
