Environmental Statistics & Data Analysis by Professor Joon Ha Kim
selected as a 2016 educational program book
GIST Professor Joon Ha Kim of the School of Earth Science and Environmental Engineering has written a book entitled Environmental Statistics & Data Analysis (published by Hannarae) that was recently selected by the Sejong Cultural Development Institute for inclusion as a 2016 Educational Book of the Year in the category of statistics. This year the Sejong Cultural Development Institute has selected 320 representative books in ten different academic categories as being essential reading for a knowledge-based society.
Professor Kim came to GIST in July 2015 after directing a training program sponsored by the International Institute for Environmental Studies, and the foundation of Professor Kim"s book came from his lecture series entitled "Environmental Statistics and Data Analysis Professional Education (E-DAP)" where students learn how to conduct field studies and how to use computer modeling for analysis and forecasting of environmental engineering experiments.
His book has received positive reviews from Hye-Ji Oh of Kyung Hee University who said, "It is very useful for learning how simple statistical techniques can be used to provide important environmental data analysis."
Professor Kim said, "The environmental sector for the 21st century requires environmental engineering experts to have practical computer research skills regarding big data. With the future focusing more on international environmental research initiatives, GIST will be able to produce the next generation of environmental leaders who will have the skills and the abilities to contribute to a better world."
