GIST Sells a Package of Smart Phone Patents

 

 

 

The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President: Jung-ho Sonu) announced that it has signed a technical transfer agreement that will sell a package of 50 patents to an intellectual property company named "Intellectual Discovery" (CEO: Gyung-man Huh).

 

Following a cooperation agreement concluded in April, GIST and Intellectual Discovery have tried to find ways for cooperation in the field of patent incubation, and this patent purchase and sales agreement will be a foundation to establish a patent pool supporting information and communication companies in Korea.

Professor Seong-ju Park, Director of GIST Technology Institute, remarked: "International actions seeking the standardization of patents have begun in the field of augmented reality. Expected effects of cooperation between Intellectual Discovery and GIST include a first mover advantage regarding international standards."
