Cell Logistics Research Center to investigate principles
of how biomaterials are transported within cells
The Cell Logistics Research Center (Director Young-su Jeon)
has opened at GIST to study principles of how biomaterials are transported
within cells. The center will study the actual cell transportation process at
the molecular level as well as the causes and modification techniques of
various problems, such as cancers caused by defects and cardiovascular
diseases.
About 100 guests from the Ministry of Science, ICT and
Future Planning and Korea Research Foundation and others joined together at the
Life science building on October 18, 2016, for the opening ceremony.
There will be a total of nine expert participants at the
research center. They include seven professors from GIST Life Science Department
and one from APRI and one from UNIST. The center will receive roughly 8.6
billion won for seven years.
“We will contribute to the strengthening of national
capacities with new theory formation and by solving scientific challenges,”
said Director Young-su Jeon.
