MoU signed with various parties to develop a
monitoring system for people with dementia
Among the interested parties attending the MoU signing

Center for Optimal Dementia Management Technologies, Director Gunho Lee of the
Chosun University National Dementia Research Center, and GIST Vice-President
Woo Keun Song.
The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) Research
Center for Optimal Dementia Management Technologies has signed a memorandum of
understanding (MoU) with the Gwangju Association of Long-Term Home Care
Institutions and Chosun University"s National Dementia Research Center to
develop a multi-modal biometric monitoring system for patients with dementia as
well as other related technologies to assist elderly patients suffering from various
diseases that contribute to memory loss, such as Alzheimer"s.
The MoU was signed on April 5, 2016, at Oryong Hall and
covers the following areas of cooperation between the signing parties: joint
research collaboration, technical assistance and exchange of information,
access to equipment, support for clinical trials, and joint workshops and
seminars.
Director Jong-In Song of the GIST Research Center for
Optimal Dementia Management Technologies who is also a professor in the School
of Information and Communications said, "The goal is to build a flexible management
system for people with severe dementia to assist in their care."
