The 11th International Symposium between GIST and UNU
Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President Young Joon Kim) hosted the 11th International Symposium between GIST and UNU (United Nations University) at Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia from October 22nd to 24th.
The theme of the symposium was “Transboundary Pollutants Delivered by Various Media” and heavy metals in soil and water, monitoring microorganisms and micropollutants, air pollutants and aerosols, and biochemical transformation and risk of pollutants. Participants at the symposium had a discussion on the latest researches on transboundary pollutants and future objectives.
Participants in the symposium include researchers from Korea, the US, Japan, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines, and Nigeria as well as the 20 researchers conducting researches on pollutants through the financial support of the International Environmental Analysis and Education Center at GIST and 40 Malaysian students and researchers of environmental issues.
And three selected university students from GIST also presented their researches to international environmental experts.
