GIST IERI signs memorandum of understanding with Kyoto University

□ The GIST School of Earth Sciences and Environmental Engineering, under the supervision of the the GIST International Environmental Research Institute (Director Joon Hn Kim) and Kyoto University have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for global environmental academic research, educational cooperation, and personnel development.

° Kyoto University Professor Shinya Funakawa and Professor Akihisa Mori visited GIST on November 20, 2017, to sign the MoU.

□ The two universities will create a joint graduate student internship program for training and research cooperation to strengthen personnel development, joint research projects through faculty research exchanges, and cooperation in GIST-Kyoto environmental research workshop.

□ Kyoto University President Shinya Funakawa said, "I hope that this agreement, which is part of the promotion of organic cooperation between GIST and Kyoto University, will lead to a higher levels of academic research and education."

□ Director Joon Ha Kim, "We hope that our students will be cultivated through cooperation and convergence of education and research fields to cope with rapidly changing society and industry. We hope that the cooperation between the two universities will lead to the development of the future environmental industry and human resources development."
