GIST IERI signs MoU with US Department of Agriculture

□ The International Environmental Research Institute (Director Joon Ha Kim) at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President Seung Hyeon Moon) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United States Department of Agriculture for research cooperation and personnel exchanges.
□ The two organizations plan to cooperate with each other through joint collaboration to improve the quality of research and development of agriculture, environment, science and technology, exchange internships, and exchange academic exchanges (symposiums and workshops).
∘ To sign the MoU, Director of Agricultural Research Service of the US Department of Agriculture Dr. James Lindsay, Dr. Munseong Kim, and Dr. Yakov Pachepsky visited the International Environmental Research Institute from May 12 to 17, 2017.
∘ Both organizations proposed cooperation in discussions on the necessity of agricultural environment technology related to climate change in Southeast Asia and the technology to solve water issues, such as agricultural water use.
□ Director Joon Ha Kim said, "By cooperating with the USDA, I will make efforts to promote agricultural environment technology as well as research cooperation. I plan to develop the International Environmental Research Institute into a global research institute through cooperation and programs with various institutions around the world."
