□ The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President Seung Hyeon Moon) begins a new era of activities with the official launch ceremony of the 'GIST Social Outreach Team" to strengthen the support system for various domestic and overseas social outreach activities.
∘ The official launch of the "GIST Social Outreach Team" was held on September 4, 2017, and the ceremony was attended by more than 100 students who are participating in numerous social outreach activities and programs at GIST.
∘ GIST Social Outreach Team plans to have various activities related to social outreach, such as inviting experts to give lectures on successful outreach programs as well as hosting a social outreach night on campus to help students discover new volunteering opportunities while at the same time creating a stronger culture of social responsibility at GIST.
∘ The overall goal is to supplement and expand programs that can maximize practical social outreach activities based on the specific needs of the local community.
□ As part of GIST's social outreach activities, various programs are already underway way with science schools, learning centers, science book donations, Hope Water Purifiers, English Science Camp, KSOP, and ICT.
□ GIST President Seung Hyeon Moon said, "As a socially responsible university, GIST will continue to engage in various social outreach activities with the local community to help improve the lives of people and to create the necessary resources for their successful adoption of societal changes caused by the emerging science and technology of the 4th Industrial Revolution."
