Experience Fellowship (GIST-IREF) Program
GIST-IREF is designed to offer graduate students opportunities for overseas collaborative research in world-renowned universities and institutes, aiming to enhance their global competitiveness.
1. Selection Plan

Eligibility |
Current graduate students who have completed at least one semester and have been recommended by their academic advisor. |

Institution |
Contact outstanding overseas institutions relevant to the applicant's research field through the academic advisor for selection. |
3 |
Program Period |
No restrictions. ※ However, scholarships are provided for a maximum of 9 months. ※ The period may be adjusted depending on budgetary situations. |

No. of Recipients |
Selection will be made until the budget allocated for the year 2024 is exhausted, regardless of affiliation. |

Criteria |
Based on factors such as the suitability of the dispatch institution, the excellence, and feasibility of expected outcomes, etc. |

Application Period |
Ongoing acceptance, with results announced at the end of each month for documents submitted by the 10th of each month. |

Scholarship |
- Preparation Expenses(one-time): - Living Expenses: 3 million KRW per month (up to 9 months). If the period applied for is less than 3 months, preparation expenses will not be provided, and living expenses will be calculated pro-rata based on the period. |

Obligations |
Submission of a joint research paper (or equivalent achievement) with the host institution within 2 years after the end of the dispatch period (the research output must include both GIST and the host institution). ※ If a scholarship recipient graduates before the deadline for submitting proof of joint research achievements, it is mandatory for the student's affiliated lab to submit the relevant documentation within the specified timeframe. Failure to do so will result in a two-year restriction on the selection of scholarship recipients from the said lab. |
