Overview

Due to the challenging and ever-changing 21st century global environment, the mission of GIST College is to choose the highest caliber students to prepare as creative, cooperative, problem solving scientists and engineers with excellent communication skills. We provide a comprehensive, foundational science curriculum to serve as a springboard for research into a wide variety of science and engineering fields.

Undergraduate Programs

    a. General Studies Division
    1. Basic Science Courses
Basic science courses provide students with vital concepts in a variety of related fields ranging from natural science to engineering. The research methods taught in these basic courses serve as a foundation for understanding coursework in a student's chosen major and modern science as a whole.

    2. Humanities and Social Science Courses
Science and technology continually increase in importance in people's daily lives. For that reason, scientist's responsibility and role in society will increase in parallel. For this reason, GIST College students complete foundational courses in humanities and social sciences to better understand their larger role to benefit society not only with modern conveniences, but with ethical and moral solutions to larger global problems.

    b. Concentrations

    1. Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Concentration
EECS ranges widely in the disciplines and skills needed in its research and development: RF and semiconductor electronics from physics, computer engineering from mathematics, electronic materials and bio-analysis from biology and information technology. To provide a solid foundation, the curriculum track focuses on the adaptability of the students.

    2. Physics Concentration
The applied physics track at GIST College provides a foundation for further study in physics or related application areas such as electrical engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, optical technology and biophysics.

    3. Chemistry Concentration
The chemistry and materials science track delivers courses in basic chemistry and related areas:materials science, environmental chemistry, biochemistry, physical chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry and analytical chemistry.

    4. Life Science Concentration
The biological science and technology curriculum lays a solid foundation for successful research in biology, biotechnology, pharmacology and medicine. Courses in this track include biology, biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology and specialized areas including immunology, genetics, physicology, bioinformatics, developmental biology, neurobiology and biophysics.
