The meaning of the mark is that GIST aims to take the lead in technological advancement through scientific research, innovative thinking in accordance with global standards.
The red color of "G" stands for 'dynamic, passion, strength, and progressive spirit'. The gray color of other pillars stands for 'self-control'. The red color especially is a reminder of the color of all GIST buildings with the emphasis that GIST is the representative scientific and technological educational institution in Gwangju.
The tiered arrangement of "G," "I," '"S" and "T" stands for the progressive leaps toward globalization and the vibrant life of youth.
The Designated Color
The designated color represents GIST and consists of the representing color and the designated color. In case of color application, those specified colors should be used in principle. Other colors are prohibited even when they are similar to those. The production of the designated color should be carefully administered by original color; if the use of original color is impossible in the cases of newspaper, magazine, or other publicity materials, the designated color should be produced by using the combination of the four primary colors in the proportion specified in the examples:
The Logo Type
In addition to the GIST emblem, the GIST logotype is another crucial element of U.I.S. (University Identity Standards). It shall never be altered arbitrarily under any circumstances for it was carefully designed to form unity and in combination with the emblem. In principle, the logotype should be copied from the original in the manual; otherwise, it should be precisely produced according to the proportional grid scale. .
The emblem is a combination of the symbol mark and the logotype, and is to be used for decoration effect. The color of the emblem can be freely applied within the restriction of the representing colors and designated colors as specified in the manual. Mottos and other expressions can be applied in the edge in which case additional care needs to be paid to preserve the basic sample images presented below:
The designated fonts represent GIST's image and can be used for the headlines of important image boards, advertisements, publicity materials. Designated fonts and recommended fonts can be used selectively for specific use. Both designated fonts and recommended fonts can be used freely in terms of character space or line space, but the character width or height changes are strictly forbidden
he signature regulates the combinatorial standards of GIST's basic symbol mark and logotype. The position and proportionate size are expected to conform to the presented examples, and the distance between the symbol mark and the logotype, in particular, should observe the proportion in the examples.
